Modern Cinderella--sort of :D

There once lived a girl who stayed in the city. At her first job, she falls for a guy who works in the same department as her. She thought the guy reciprocate her feelings, when he asked her out. Apart from going on dates, they also started spending more time with each other by either meeting up for lunch or after work. The girl was dreaming of a happily-ever-after when a couple of months later, the guy came up to her and told her that he was going back to his ex-girlfriend. Heart-broken, the girl wished him all the best and hoped that he would be happy with his ex. They continued to work together and she put on a smile although her heart was crying. What else could she do? Other than to smile and pretend to be happy. Unfortunately, after months of emotional strain, she decided to quit her job and moved on. They each went on with their respective lives; she with her new job and friends made along the way, and he with his renewed relationship. She tried to make a go at other relationships but somehow they tend to fail as her heart had been given away.

Time went by but soon fate had something else in store for her. Several years later, they met up again unexpectedly. Again, they were both single. Although the girl is wary, her heart kept on screaming for him. Meanwhile, the guy wanting another chance with her, began wooing her earnestly. When she was finally decided to give him another chance disaster struck again! He patched up with the ex-girlfriend…again! It was like a bad dream for the girl. She did not know how to survive this time around but luckily her friends rallied around her. They encouraged her, kept her busy and found ways to make her laugh. It was only at night, when she was all alone in her bedroom that her thoughts went to him. What was he doing? Was he ok? And if he missed her as much as she missed him. At times she cried herself to sleep thinking about him and the shabby way he had treated her.

Two months later, she decided to move to another city and start afresh with no memories of him surrounding her. She discussed it with a few of her good friends and they agreed with her idea. Maybe when she is away from him, she would be able to forget about him and settle down to a meaningful relationship with someone else.

She moved to a less bustling city and found a job there. Her job was something different, something she never thought of doing let alone making a career out of it. As time passed by, she grew to love her new job and was happy. Although she missed her old friends, she soon made new ones. During a company gathering, she was introduced to the head of another department. He was nice, friendly, and cute as well. He has gotten a mutual friend to introduce them as he found her to be a shy and friendly girl. Even though they were not from the same department, they soon had to work together often.

Once bitten twice shy, she was wary of him and rebuffed all attempts made by him to go out for group lunches. When he found out the reason for her behaviour, he respected and understood it but did not give up. Finally, persistence did pay off; she finally agreed to go out for lunch with him after months of saying no. From then on, a beautiful friendship started as he taught her that not all guys were like her previous guy. He taught her how to trust in another guy again.
After months of friendship, he brought up the subject on love. While he had fallen for her since the first day they met, he knew that she needed time to get over her last experience. The foundations of trust and love that he has built as well as his kind personality became the key to the door to her heart. She accepted his love fully, knowing that she could trust him with her heart. She never regretted moving to that city and finally found her happily ever after.
